I am not a Mormon. The writer is not a Mormon. It is a book about the history of Mormons in settling Arizona and the west. It is well written and very informative. I like old history books because they avoid the current political correctness and historical revisionism that is so prevalent.I am absolutely amazed at the impact the early Mormons had on Arizona, Utah and California. The book is not an endorsement or criticism of the Mormons, just simply what they did, where and when. A history of this area is not complete unless you understand the people who settled it.
This book is an excellent read.

Love it!!!
hard to follow with dated grammer and writing style but history of the church was interesting glad i read it
It was very informative.
There are many Church books and having them in the reader makes life easier
it's factual, not the product of a mormon-hater. tells a little slice of history in a readable way. i probably need more words, so here they are.
Gave one star because there isn't a lower rating. I was hoping to learn more, in a more succinct manner. Sorry but this book put me to sleep. Perhaps it would be interesting to readers more closely related to the subject.
My mother's ancestors helped settle Arizona. To this day many of my relatives and friends live there. This book details the settlement and progress in a time-line manner. I am related to some of the people mentioned, and have heard many of the stories in this book; they are accurately documented. If you're interested in the stories of the pioneers who moved to this wild and desolate region, you'll be captivated!
